Why collect autographs? Autograph collecting is a form of cultural tourism. If one has the right mindset, a signed document or photo can be a powerful visceral link to a time period, person or event.
This collection really began in 2011, although I did have a few autographs before that. Around that time, I realized that many of the actors and actresses that I grew up watching were getting to be quite old, and likely would not be around for much longer (a fact highlighted by the death of Jonathan Frid in 2012). The first autograph added to the collection proper was George Takei, one of my favorite actors. This was followed up by a number of other Star Trek actors and the great Christopher Lee. By 2013 I moved away from buying autographs of contemporary celebrities, except in cases when they were not obtainable any other way (and occasionally if one happened to catch my eye). |

My current goal is to develop a museum-quality collection. As such, the focus of the collection is slowly turning from contemporary entertainment figures to historical, political and other noteworthy people.
